Fragments of Menander’s Thais

face of a prisoner

The English translations of the cited two fragments from Menander’s Thais are from Allinson (1921). The first fragment begins a mock-Homeric prologue to the play. Edmonds (1957) provides an alternative English translation, as well as translations of additional fragments. The presentation of fragments attributed to Thais in Winter (2001) incorrectly combines them into a single, connected text segment.
